Is my cooking data private?

Yes. Your pantry, favorites, meal plans, and history stay tied to your account — we never sell your data.

Do I need to download anything?

No. My Recipe Universe runs right in your browser. You can also add it to your phone's home screen like an app if you want it there.

Account Information: Your full name and email address, collected during sign-up or via Google sign-in.
User-Generated Content: Your saved favorite recipes, dietary profiles (including household member names and dietary restrictions), search history, recipe ratings (1-5 stars and notes), and any feedback messages you send us.
Wellness Data (optional): If you use the Health and Fitness features, we store the goal details you enter (such as current and target weight, height, age, and activity level), weight check-ins, progress photos you upload, and your workout and cardio logs. This information is only used to build your plans and is never shared with other users.
Usage Data: Weekly counts of recipe searches and meal plans generated, which we track to manage your subscription tier limits.
Subscription Data: Your premium status and Stripe payment metadata. Please note that we do not store your credit card numbers; these are handled securely by our payment processor, Stripe.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data collected to:

Provide personalized recipe recommendations and meal planning services.
Enforce usage limits for our free and premium tiers.

4. AI Processing and Third-Party Services

To provide our core features, we integrate with third-party service providers:

AI Processing: When you search for recipes or generate meal plans, your search queries and dietary preferences are sent to a third-party Large Language Model (LLM) to generate content. The resulting recipes are returned to you and stored if you choose to save them.
Payment Processing: We use Stripe to process payments. Stripe’s collection and use of your data are governed by their own privacy policy. We do not have access to or store your full credit card details.
Product Analytics: We use Heycatch, a product analytics service, to understand which features are used (for example, that a meal plan was created). Heycatch receives an anonymous account identifier and whether you are on the free or premium plan — never your name or email address.

5. Data Sharing and Public Links

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Your data is shared only under the following circumstances:

Public Links: If you choose to create a shareable link for a recipe, that specific content will be accessible to anyone who possesses the link.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, we may disclose information to comply with legal obligations or protect our rights.

6. Cookies and Session Management

We use authentication tokens and local storage to manage your session. These technologies allow you to stay logged in and help us remember your application preferences (such as UI settings) while you navigate the app.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with services. You can delete your account at any time from the account menu in the app (Delete my account). Doing so permanently removes your account and all associated data — including recipes, plans, pantry, history, profiles, course progress, wellness data, and community posts — and cancels any active Recipe Universe+ subscription.

Access: You can request a summary of the personal data we hold about you.
Correction: You may update your profile information and dietary preferences within the app settings.
Deletion: You may request the permanent deletion of your account and all associated user-generated content.
